Close, but no. Sebastion Kruger's a bit more Bill Plympton than the person I'm trying to track down. It's another painter I really want to share, too.

Lovely stuff. Much of his portraits remind me of Chuck Close's early stuff (and some of his later works as well.

Mmm; I love the contrast between the focused figures and the central, unfocused figure. It's very striking.
