Our politicians imply that they support this as a way for citizens to get rid of an elected government. I wonder if the government of Canada would endorse it's own citizens expressing themselves this way. If so let's get our helmets and gas masks and see how genuinely they hold such beliefs.

Interesting times. Why do we support the violent protests in Ukraine against an elected government? Why did we support the armed uprising in Libya? Why do we support Al-Qaeda and related armed Islamic groups in Syria? Why do we NOT support the protesters in (nominally democratic) Thailand and why do we barely even hear about the peaceful protests so brutally repressed in (autocratic) Bahrain that still continue three years later? And why did our governments not support Occupy Wall Street and celebrate the movements democratic ideals?
Pundits, talking heads and politicians can build elaborate baroque theories to try to explain these things (or merely channel the output of PR companies hired to do so) but if we call on Occam to lop off the epicycles and exorcise the phlogiston and aether we arrive at a much simpler answer.
The way things are going it looks like Ukraine will be getting a nice new NATO base out of this, and very little else other than raped by the Euro banks.
