Today ginmar posted an excellent essay on prostitution, and I think you'd be cheating yourself if you didn't go read it right now. It's called Supply and Demand.

From the comments, I found Biting Beaver, which has a collection of essays on Porn and the Sex Industry. I haven't dug into those yet, but wanted to pass that on.
