I kept imagining him in Russell Brand style for some reason. Or in a very fashionable hipster style costume. So this is quite surprising in a good way. It lends him quite an air of slightly wacky authority which is precisely what it needs to do. You know, that's a man who clearly will not be running with the crowd. That's definitely The Doctor.
I hope that is Karen's costume. The nod to 10 is sweet.
Yep, I was expecting Russell Brand and I got George Lamb instead! I love it though. "wacky authority" is a great way to describe it - it's a classic Who look. Karen's hair and makeup are obviously done, but it's hard to tell if she's in costume. I think she looks really 90s again, like she did in the shots they released for her casting announcement (although they were very clear at the time she wasn't in costume). The boots would be an absolutely lovely touch if she is!
