I think I've been living under a rock. I have not heard of this movie. :(

Is it a British film?

I've just looked at the list of movies playing in the nearby city. There is not one I want to see from about 10 choices. Why couldn't a moving and special movie like this be available every weekend? Going to the movies for the sake of going is too expensive.

Hi Robin

Don't worry, you've not been living under a rock. I only heard about this film about 2 weeks ago through a link someone posted on their lj! Its not a British film, its an independently made US film. Its been shown at lots of gay and lesbian film festivals and received loads of plaudits...but its not being shown in the UK or anywhere in Europe, sadly. Its being shown at the Toronto L&GFF though, you lucky Canadian!!

And please dont get me started on WHY this film is not being given a wider release when there is so much trash being shown week after week? Seriously, when you see this film, you will know what I mean. I really hope you get to see it...let me know what you think. I will be talking about Shelter for some time to come....;)

Thank you for posting this rec. I've looked "Shelter" up at Amazon and have added it to my wishlist.

Here's a movie I've been waiting for. I had hoped it would be shown in local theatres, but it was not. I can't recommend it as I haven't viewed it, but the story sounds good, and it appears to be another non-mainstream movie that will be leaps and bounds better than what is offered in general theatres. It is available at amazon.ca

Hi Robin, I cant see the film you recommend. :( It just asks me to register for ImdB. What is it called? I'm glad you ordered Shelter anyhow. I'm fine Robin, sorry I've not been on the QAF thread, but I just cant find the time to go there anymore. Hope you're well too.

I'm dying to see ''Shelter'' after I looked at some trailers/vids. I wonder when will it come to Europe. I'd prefere to see it in a movie theatre than to buy the DVD.

And yes, also the soundtrack sounds very good.

it HAS actually been in europe, at some LGBT film festival like in zurich, or in berlin, but just on one day, as part of the festival.
they say it will come out in europe, but just as DVD, by the end of summer.
which is a crying shame....

YAY! It does come out on the 27th...sadly, those of us in the UK and Europe will have to wait until AFTER that date before we can get our ordered DVD's but at least we know they will be on their way......I hope you enjoy it, please come back and tell us what you think when you've seen it.

Christie...girl. You ramble about this film as much as you LIKE....you know I, for one will listen to and read EVERY SINGLE WORD you say..... that's if I can shut up myself long enough to listen that is...and you know what I was thinking...this has to be getting SERIOUS numbers of hits on youtube.,...my God...it must be nearly most played right now...and why not...it's that good, I can't stop myself!

I didn't read your spoilers, cause i want to see it for myself. I read on line that it comes out on dvd May 27. I'm planning to order it - i doubt it will be for sale here, but i'm definitely looking forward to seeing it. :)

Hi Jane, no problem about not reading the spoilers....I cant wait for you to watch it and come back and let us know what you think! There has probably been a hug influx of orders for Shelter over the past few days!! All I can say to that is YAY! Ennisjack has a thread for Shelter - I only started it a week ago and we are up to nearly 40 pages!! Don't go near it until you've seen the film though....major spoilers everywhere in that place! But please come in and say hello once you've seen it....you are going to LOVE it...
