It's a joke.

My gut feeling was that it was a joke. Actually, my number 1 reason for suspecting so was the part about how they went from hofu to hufu...

It's probably a joke but there are people out there who really do eat human flesh...

I mean, there are tribes who believe that eating a piece of their deceased relatives is a sign of respect. They take part of that person's body into their own to carry them with them forever. (I guess it never occurred to them that we eventually poop out what we eat. ;)

But, human-flavored tofu? Isn't that kind of stupid? I have read that human flesh tastes like chicken. So it's really just chicken-flavored tofu, I guess. Hm.

Not necessarily. Remember that a certain amount of the protein assimilated would go to make up part of the ingester's muscle mass and such, if needed. At least some of it would probably be processed into blood or somthing . . .

Hmmm. I think that I'm thinking about this way too much. Shutting up now.

Well, if you believe the page, it tastes like beef, only sweeter and softer. Not chicken (Although, it addes, that is a commopn misconception).

Are there still tribes that do that? That aren't members of the church of Heinlein, I mean...

heh

Yep, I just saw something on the Discovery channel a couple of months ago about a tribe in Africa--on the western coast, I believe. It was interesting in a kinda creepy way.

I'm pretty sure it's serious. I did a little research on it and found articles in newpapers all across the US citing the product.

That doesn't necessarily mean it's not a joke. There have been plenty of cases that got nation-wide news coverage and turned out to be an elaborate hoax. Plus, it's getting easier to pull things like this off with the internet. :)
