So there's a strike on, eh?

Once again LiveJournal inflicts some drama upon itself for poorly defined reasons.

For those who aren't cool enough to know yet; http://users.livejournal.com/zakai_/223034.html

Who really cares about Most Popular Interests not being listed, especially when they are easily found by searching anyway?
At least the "LJ is screwing around with free ( Read more... )

I did it because I needed a break from LJ anyways (not from my personal journal but from the sheer amount of rp journals I have which I spend pretty much all my time on instead of important things like school) and I didn't see a problem with just doing it. :/ But apparently there are people out there who did have a problem with people doing it. Thank you tho Popo for actually outlining why it wouldn't work in a way that is civil and actually intelligent. A lot of people I'm seeing were posting retarded, idiotic shit without thinking, proving themselves to be even less mature than the strikers. :/ (and god, what went done at mintyapple...sorry guys, but just because the mod decides to put HER community on strike doesn't give its members the right to anoynmously flame her on her personal journal)

I see no actual problem with people doing this strike (sticking it to the man is the right of young people after all), I simply think if people are genuinely annoyed by LJ's actions they should use more effective tactics. It's a nice idea and for fairly decent reasons but it doesn't factor in the nature of the site.
Still, silly or not the people flaming the strikers is far more retarded.

Power to the Strike and such!

Yeah, it really won't do anything but hopefully someone in adminstration just realizes we weren't happy and thinks for a moment. I consider it kinda like a warning shot.

Right now I'm actually trying to decide if I should renew my paid account subscription when it expires in a few months. (I am not cancelling it before it's up because that's actually money lost on my part not LJ's. I paid for a whole year all at once and even if they do give you back a bit of money when you cancel a subscription -which I doubt- it would go into my MOM'S paypal account since that was what I used to pay for it and it won't come back to me) I like having a paid account because I like the features it has, but I dunno. We'll see how things are when the expirary date comes around. I won't be getting that 100 userpic limit until things are better tho that's for sure despite how much I want want want it.
