Kanaan and Rodney are gonna be friends

For a long time - 5 years or so - I’ve wanted to write a fic where Rodney adopts a Pegasus kid who is mute. Rodney’s mother was deaf so he’s fluent in sign language, and he teaches it to the child. I was worried about inadvertently ignoring the kid’s culture or somehow doing something wrong (like making Rodney into a White Savior, or something), so

I like how you told us about the story before writing it.
It occurred to me that I could do the same thing, but never write the story. I don't write fiction, and I have no plans to try, so this is a good idea for me if I ever have a story to share.

You could definitely do that! I do it all the time, though I always mean to expand on what I throw out there lol
