Pretty interesting article, but I'm afraid that I'm either missing the point or it just isn't there. This is honestly what I would expect from any crowd of about a bajillion people and, not having been to any Washington rallies, I wouldn't know that it should be any different. Maybe you expect your readers to have some basis for comparison, but in general I'd have to say that if you don't put that comparison explicitly in the article you're going to lose a lot of your potential audience. Most people who know what you mean and agree with you would probably even feel the article lacking because spelling these kinds of things out is just what's done and what people are used to.

The concept I was going for in the article was how I expected to write idealized article A before I got there, got there and it seemed about as far from that ideal as possible without gunfire being involved, and then near the end, turns out the ideal wasn't THAT far off ( ... )

Great article, just wish it were longer with more descriptions about the crowd. I read what you wrote your goal was in the other comment, and you definitely did it. :)
