I love burning things, but I've never burned a book. Even hate books need to be preserved.

About the only book burning that I didn't react to with instantaneous rage was when some friends in the active military commented that a FOB that was closing had to burn a couple shipping containers worth of books because 1) they were heavily used paperbacks 2) that nobody wanted (to the degree that attempts to GIVE them away were unsuccessful) 3) and they *needed* the room. That, okay, fine. It's an unfortunate outcome but it's not the abhorrent perversity this shit is. It should be the goal of every thinking being to INCREASE the level of knowledge and discourse in the world, not reduce it. If you attempt to destroy an idea, you are doing something very very wrong.
