I know exactly how you feel. I turned 41 in January and those same exact thoughts entered my head. I have a 19 and 17 year old kids and do not want them to make the same mistakes I did. Have you tried freecycle.org in your area in regards to car help?

I'm in that same paycheck to paycheck boat...and my next birthday I'll be 40!! All I can say is I hope I have talked more to my kids about being financially responsible in their younger years than my parents did and hopefully they listened (and are listening).

I hope you have a happy birthday, I know I can't turn around the deluge of depressing thoughts... but maybe knowing you aren't the only one with those same thoughts and worries will help
