As some of you can probably tell now, there was more that I would have liked to say on the 5th Anniversary of 97X's FM sign off, but at the time we just weren't quite ready to make the announcement. The Future Of Rock 'n' Roll Will Never Die modnar February 7 2009, 22:01:53 UTC
Thanks for posting this Shiv. As one of the what I'm sure are a select few people who really only listen to WOXY in the car I don't know how long it would have taken me to work this out on my own. Potentially forever.

Lala were great to come to the rescue of the station just as it looked like it would disappear forever (again). At least this time the transition of power isn't quite so apocalyptic.

I'm excited to see what the Future Sounds guys can bring to the table. Maybe this will finally be a long term fit. I've appreciated the complete lack of ads and other commercialization, but there's always been a little voice in the back of my mind that wondered how any revenue was being generated. Hopefully it's possible to find a way to avoid 'selling out', but make it so that WOXY is at least self sustaining.

I still can't believe that it's been five years since the FM station went off the air. Yet, it also feels like it's been a whole lot longer than that.

At first I was worried why Bill would be selling off woxy. After reading a little more into and about Future Sounds, I realize this is a great fit.
Dang. Woxy is truly a wunderkind in the radio business.
Now go get some HD broadcast agreements in some other cities! ;)

At the end of the day, Bill was really eager to come in and be the 'white knight', but there was not a lot of action after that. As I said, I am really thankful for everything because I wouldn't be here otherwise, but we need people behind us who are interested in more than just keeping the lights on.

Thinking back to the subscription days, it's cool to know there are people behind you at all.
