YOU MADE IT!

I've been thinking of you a bunch, and wondering how things were going. I'm so happy you're there!

*hugs tight*

Things are going really really well. Just to show that I'm not perfect, I did have a wee breakdown for about 30 minutes when M was on her 3rd day of a bad cold, I hadn't been out of the house in two days, and all the "new" was overpowering me.

But my lovely gf who is very very smart decided to take me to Texas Longhorn Steakhouse on Saturday for a special treat and taste of "home." I think I'll keep her, and I think I'll stay. ;)

Yay Sweden!

#3 is totally surprising. You'd think it would be a nation attuned to things like stews and the ways of making them more convenient.

Also: you are near the Lutefisk homeland! Any plans to try the real thing?

I was shocked about the slow cooker thing too, until I started reading the same complaint in several ex-pat forums. What's more, the ones you can find here are ridiculously expensive, to the point where I almost bought one over Christmas to ship over. But then we'd have to mess with the electric adapter and possible voltage situation, so we decided to just wait and get one here.

And ACK! You might recall that I lived in Lindsborg for 3 years and tried lutefisk. It's nasty, and M won't eat it either. But oh my god the pastries...

Yeah, but at least Norwegian lutefisk comes out of the ocean. Lindsborg lutefisk comes off I-135 :P

The recipe sounds good, but I'm suspicious of anything brown that includes the word "kaka."
