My girls eat 4 bottles a day and we just added "lunch" in the highchair this week. Mom and Dad are planning on feeding them according to what I feed them.

All baby's are different, so their feeding schedules are different as well. =). Mine eats fruits and some cereal when he wakes up, some veggies around lunchtime, and a small bowl of cereal around dinnertime, with 3 or 4 bottles inbetween.

When I asked my doctor about solids, he told me to try and give my kiddo different colored things throughout the week (IE, with veggies: peas, squash, carrots, etc., and with fruits: peaches, pears, bananas, plums, etc.). I guess different colors mean different nutrients, or something of that nature.

They are still in the first stages of trying food and testing for food allergies. I'm sure at some point they'll be able to pull just about anything out of the freezer that I make... but that's a ways away right now.

Even though the website you provided claims carrots are totally safe to make baby food from, I personally wouldn't do it. And would encourage parents reading this post to ask their doctor and do their own research before potentially exposing their child to too many nitrates.
Other than that, I think its' great you're making their food. =) I plan to do it with my youngest.. =)

I've done extensive research on nitrates. An article on that same site www.wholesomebabyfood.com/ntiratearticle.htm does a decent job of talking about the issues with nitrates and carrots. Mom has been involved in the decision and we both feel that the girls are almost 6 1/2 months old and not at risk. Thanks!

You might consider preparing the trays by spraying them very lightly with oil, first.
