watching right now helped to clear up one of your questions. Gus loves being the awesome one. We all know this, its what makes the Shawn vs Gus relationship so funny, their constant competition. Well Gus just mentioned that Uncle Burton is not impressed with ANYBODY in his family, including his namesake. The fact that Burton is showing a bit of approval in Gus' psychic investigations, due to his love of detective shows, tells Gus that the way to being the only one in Gus' Family to have Burton like them is to have Burton watch him solve this case. Family Credit Points seem to go far with Gus.
Shawn/Gus meanness? Check Shawn's desk at the paper. There's a framed photo of the two of them either from American Duos or from High School. I found it sweet!
Henry's a sag too? So is Shawn. no wonder the two of them butt heads all the time.
Maybe it's just me, but I spent half the episode yelling, "Shawn, you DICK!" at the screen. A good joke is a good joke, but screwing with Gus the way he did all through the episode was just mean. He eventually made up for it, sort of, but it was still a rather nasty way to behave.
Yeah, I was quite shocked by how mean Shawn was being. I think both of them tired of it by the end but in the mean time the two of them were horrible to each other. I think I said it last week too ... I doubt they are building up to something but if it's their idea of 'conflict of the week' I think it's too intense.
Interestingly, I had the exact opposite reaction. I thought Shawn was going through a whole lot of trouble that he didn't have to go through to help Gus save face with his uncle, even to the point of risking his own credibility with the cops. He couldn't help but use the opportunity to try and embarass him a little, but he most definitely did not want to out him or cause him any trouble, and I also choose to believe that he suspected that it'd work out so that Gus could actually impress his uncle. I thought he was being a really good friend in this episode, which is not always something I can say for Shawn.
hey, it happens. it's what shawn does. i looked at it as more of a push to be more riskAy! but the hits to gus's "assistant" stance was kinda brutal. but it wasn't that bad. get over it. >.< shawn is kinda a mean guy. that's why i like him.
He, I really wanted that Shawn would give that damn apple shirt to Gus at the end, but I hadn't that luck; let's hope for more Shassy action next week revolving around Lassy's broken arm.
The horoscope thing was very cute, I was actually squeeing when Jules read Aries and it turned to be a personalized horoscope for Lassy.
He is I am 100% in love with Lassy and I really hope we get the story behind his arm. I suppose they might ignore it since it's an actual actor injury instead of a pre-planned plot point.
I would have loved some Gus/Jules but it seems to have been the big loser this season so far.
my favorite scene was the ending scene when they are hitting each other around. it was so wild and unnecessary that i couldn't stop laughing. i thought it was pulled off smoothly. i didn't think shawn was being "mean" when he convinced gus's uncle to tag along. every time shawn does something like that, he is trying to get gus to loosen up and take chances. like the planetarium episode w/ that girl a super plus plus for all the horoscopes. i can't believe lassiter believed it. and i always thought he was an aries
SHOUT OUT TO MY HOMMIES IN NJ! i love how television portrays us so mean. we are just honest, and we won't mind the honesty back.
all the little insults to gus's character while he was being shawn was amazingly sad. it's like "common! gus isn't just a sidekick!"
I think there's a difference between trying to get Gus 'out' more and risking the chance that everything is going to blow up in Gus's face, and it would be Gus's face. I suppose it's one thing that sorta bugs me: Shawn's lack of growth this season. He's taking a chance with Gus's whole family status and it shows a lack of regard for consequences. I know that's the show's 'vibe' but I'm a little disappointed in that.
Shawn's 'Gus is my sidekick' thing actually was something I *did* like. Gus does some interesting things (supersmeller, superspeller, random font of knowledge for the week) but those things do not impress Burton and Gus is going to have to figure out what that means to him. And he probably should clean the office once and a while (shawn's not going to do it).
Although I would be amused if Shawn secretly lives in the back half of the storefront.
I think the thing that you really have to consider about Shawn and Gus is that they really probably haven't been there much for each other since high school
( ... )

I didn't say they hated each other, but they have been a lot more antagonistic lately.
Yeah. We're not canon-canon on Shawn's birthday yet, we'll see.
