OVERWHELMED

I'm sort of trying to keep from panicking. I feel so underprepared for my new job--day two and there are all these things I need to do, but can't until I take the classes offered by Stanford to learn the program that allows me to learn the things I need to do. I agree with gucky. No one can expect you to magically know everything all at once, so don't put pressure on yourself to think that you need to. You'll learn it all eventually, and will do a great job. Maybe you can track down the previous person who had your job, the one that was so nice when you met her, and ask for some practical hints to get you on your feet. And remember, starting a new job is always one of the most stressful things people do - your anxiety is completely natural, and not an indication that you're more unprepared than anyone else would be when learning a whole new set of skills and responsibilities.

And if all else fails, flaunt your turtle tattoo that made such a good impression.

I think it's an unwritten rule that when you are the person leaving, you don't miss your SO as much as the person who is left behind. J. left for California this morning and I am kicking myself for not going with him now.
