any kind of long trek like this is always best with a partner. if you were to get injured along the way, you'd be in the middle of nowhere with no facilities - and that would suck. what i'd suggest is when you get there? find a buddy, or bring one of the friends you're going to visit with you.

aside from that, this sounds amazing! you'll be hiking through the wilds of mordor ;)

Dang. I hadn't thought of that.

I'm thinking about signing up for some walking tours instead. They're pricier, but a little safer for the lone, accident prone, walker.
