Needs more nudity

OK, here's the deal, People Who Make Who figures: if you are going to make a Planet of Fire-specific Fifth Doctor figure (an act of which I wholly approve), try harder.

FFS, he only wears the hat for five minutes.  He doesn't wear the coat or the jumper, at all, at any point - unique to this story.  AND HE ACTUALLY SAYS IN THE SCRIPT THAT HE MISSES ( Read more... )

I am so with you. That there model is Fail from top to bottom. I love the hat, but why make an arc specific doll if you're not even going to relate it to what was unique about the arc? Suspenders! people. And the waistcoat! And sleeves!

[Icon is arc relevant, although sadly not costume relevant.]

I get the idea of them trying to flog random extra figures, hence the 'Five in Four's burgundy monstrosity' and 'Colin with Androzani mud on'. But if you're going to do it, then actually make them have noticeably different clothes! And the ones they were actually wearing!

Sigh. It's this kind of thinking that means we still don't have a Harry With His Foot In A Clam playset. THEY ARE FOOLS!

That's like doing a FRONTIOS-specific doll without the specs! Only even worse because we saw so much of that waistcoat and those lovely braces! FAIL INDEED.

It's uncanny how they homed in on the one and only episode where it's least appropriate for him to wearing that lot. Did they decide they wanted an Ainley/Five pack and worry they were going to spoil the big Time-Flight reveal or something?

And now I'm looking at your icon (which is indeed rather marvellous) and remembering the green placket of the shirt is for the whole of that last season and they didn't even get that right. /o\

My friend hasn't even SEEN Planet of Fire and wondered where Turlough was.

Even the Forbidden Planet write-up goes 'the Doctor and Turlough are on a gay space holiday when...' and then there's this baffling picture of the NOTICEABLE ABSENCE OF TURLOUGH. (I may have paraphrased a little there.)

Eh. I can forgive them not making me my own personal ginger prince (at least until they release ALL the old-skool companions), but the absence of question-mark braces is too grr-some.

Oh, I agree. The one time a Doctor actually has an alternate outfit and they don't go for it? Lamesauce.

Ah well. Cute Ainley fig, at least. I am sure nobody will get the set just to smoosh them together. Certainly I would not do such a thing. Certainly not.

Ah...

1. Character Options are t3h THICK.

2. Licenses, licences... Unfortunately none to be found for any oldschool companions as yet. Except Sarah Jane Smith who since SJSA, I have actually come to loathe :'(
