Though I'm way behind on the show and the fit might not be as good as I think, one thing I realized just now is that the four Pies roughly fit the classical Four Temperaments:

Sanguine - Pinkie
Choleric - Limestone
Melancholic - Marble
Phlegmatic - Maud

I'm also so detached from the fandom that this may also be common knowledge, haha.

It's so purple-glowy; I love both pieces of art. And intelligence is totally the best attribute in RPGs.

I have not noticed that but it is very cool! I am somewhat detached from the fandom. I follow it as I can, mainly art posts on tumblr, DA and FB but I mostly avoid the fandom, as in I avoid the sort of thing that would make me read the comments on Equestria Daily.

The art the community produces is gorgeous. But yeah, Like you, I tend to avoid the fandom at large. Avoiding the stuff of EqD comments is a good way of describing it.
