It's my pleasure to pimp a first-timer ::smirk::. pretties_4u, also known as Cat (and tabaqui's other half) has written Riverside, a haunting, lyrical, evocative, and sensual tale of a first time between two young men from the Ozarks (posted in kyriane's journal). (Note to my non-slash-reader friends: Read this. Although it's rated Adult, it's not graphic, and the writing' ( Read more... )

I've been watching every week. And voting. I love the show. I was so sad to see Rachael Hunter get the boot last night. She's been consistently good throughout.

Now I wish I'd seen it from the beginning! I was bummed to learn that I missed the jive; that's my favorite dance.

Yeah, but someone's got to be eliminated, and I would have made the same call, based solely on what I saw last night. I loved seeing how warm and funny and winning-to-try-anything Rachel Hunter was in the rehearsal segment, but she was obviously nervous when it was time to compete.

It is definitely too bad you haven't been watching. Kelly Monaco was horrible the first week and was slow to improve. She really impressed last week with the Jive though. Rachel, on the other hand, has been consistently good. Last night was the first time that I felt she didn't dance as well as she could.

Rachel's big concern has been audience appeal. Some of them have more of a fan base than others to vote for them regardless of their performances. I'm just glad we don't have to watch Evander Holyfield clomp around anymore. He was bad. Really, really bad.

Oh yeah, I realize that my opinion would probably be different if if I'd been watching from the beginning. But I have to look at the bright side: I'm glad I've been spared the sight of Evander Holyfield clomping around. :)

Gotta give Kelly Monaco props for doing such a great job in spite of the wardrobe malfunction, though, eh?

I'm a little puzzled at Joey McIntyre being scored so low; IMHO, he was better than O'Hurley in the samba; Joey actually used his whole body. Methinks it might have something to do with the female partners, you think? Both women are excellent dancers, but Charlotte appears to have a good sense of humor and seems like a good sport, whereas Joey's partner comes off as whiny/emotional.

What kind of dancing?
Ballroom. I missed the first two shows, which featured tango and jive (my favorite dance; I'm bummed I missed it!). Last night, they did samba and Viennese waltz. I think foxtrot is next (when I took a ballroom-dancing class, I found foxtrot to be the most difficult).

OMG, I remember Solid Gold. Honesty forces me to admit that I watched it regularly in high school. I watched, and continue to watch, as much non-ballet, non-abstract modern dancing as I can. (I don't hate ballet or Martha Graham-type modern dance, but I find that a little bit goes a long way and, unless there's a good story like Rodeo or The Nutcracker involved, I start to fidget after 20-30 minutes.)

but none of our RL friends do. And even if they did enjoy it, they wouldn't recognize movie titles like "Last Tango in Paris" and "To Sir With Love." *pouts*
Then you're gonna love my friends :).

one more week until I can buy my plane tickets and give you a better ETA
Woo-hoo!
