You got to spend time with her. That's important.

[Pen taps; there are so many ways Simon can respond to that.]

Yes. And I cherished every moment of it. Perhaps I'll be fortunate enough to see her again...

It's hard losing people close to you. ...I don't know what it's like to have blood related family but, if you need someone to stick close to you, I can be there as your comrade and friend.

I appreciate it, Cross. When things settle down at Medical, I could use a tea break.

I do, too. However much time I spent with her, it will never feel like enough.

[It reminds Handmaiden of the things that she misses deeply--the Exile, those vague faces from her dream. But she knows that's no comparison to Simon's loss. But really... if there is a way to put what she feels into words, she doesn't know it.

So after she's done with work, she brews up some tea--leaf tea this time--puts it in a thermos, and goes to his and Koi's house. Only the two of them now... she knocks on the door.]

Simon, it is Handmaiden.

[Simon takes a moment to come to the door. He'd finally been able to get away from Medical for some rest, but just like after the fire, he'd been unable to sleep well. Taking care of patients had allowed him to sink into his clinical, detached mindset for a while, but coming out of it meant he had to think again about how his sister was gone.

He attempted to straighten himself up a bit before answering, but there was no hiding the fact that he wasn't his usual pristine, perfectly-groomed self; his eyes were red and had dark circles underneath, and his face had a scraggly growth of unshaven facial hair. However, he attempts to smile at Handmaiden as he opens the door.]

Hello, Handmaiden. Thank you for coming over- please, please come on.

[He steps aside to allow her entry.]
