The Guardian's Joe Queenan on movie novelisations. Hilarious!

cute. A couple of points though, George Lucas didn't, in fact write the original Star Wars novelisation, Alan Dean Foster (yes, him again!) did - Lucas just had his name on it. Which actually goes back to his point on ghost writers.

Also, Lycans and Werewolves getting along? does he mean Lycans and Vampires?

I'm willing to give Joe Queenan that little error as a freebie. After all, he's not just watched the movie which I haven't seen yet but fully expect to be dreadful, but also read the book, something I would never do.

That article made me remember that at one time I read far too many Alan Dean Foster novelizations. Of course, I fear to return to any of ADF's work, since my adolescent reading tastes tend never to reward re-reading.

Oh sh... ...he's done novelisations of such movies as The Black Hole, Krull, The Last Starfighter and Chronicles of Riddick! The man must have unbelievable mental stamina - it's hard enough to _watch_ those films, but to spend probably several hours on writing a media tie-in!

If I remember correctly, I've only read one ADF novel ever, and I don't think it was even a novelization! But it was "book 1" in a series that never continued.

Also, my brother read the ADF novelization of Total Recall, which *is* a movie I can watch.

No wait, Total Recall was novelized by Piers Freaking Anthony.

Dear lord. Total Recall is based on a short story to start with. The thought of Piers Anthony essentially doing a PKD remake is hard to bear.
