Two acquaintances of mine were married on that date (many years later) for two reasons:

A) an easy-to-remember anniversary, and
2) so that at least one thing that was NOT disastrous will have happened on that day!

I would have thought "So that no matter what mishaps occur at the wedding, they will not be the worst thing that has happened on that date."

huh. what do ya know.

Pretty much doesn't show up when the country you live in had parts set on fire by Germany. And then there's the Russian folks who still haven't returned St. Petersburg.

So, yeah. I'd have missed it had you not posted. Thanks. It's good to not forget these things.
