On this date in 1974, Richard Nixon resigned.

A fine tradition. Perhaps the current president should use this auspicious date to do likewise.

I think you're more likely to see complete and lasting peace in the Middle East before this President reigns let alone admits he made a mistake or broke the law.

The difference is that Mr. Nixon actually had a brain at the time of his resignation, or so I'm told. Puppets can only do what the folk pulling their strings make them do.

Yeah, despite the whole, um, watergate thing, Nixon was a smart guy, and had engineered some schmancy pieces of foreign policy. I'd rather have him as president than W....

Of course; it's the difference between the Mob and the sort of crook who tries to rob a bank with a note written on the back of his own business card. They're both crooked, but at least the Mob is smart enough to get things done....
