I went to eat Ethiopian food today, and I am always warmed by the interracial groups I tend to see frequenting the place. All colors and eye-shapes happily digging in to communal, well-spiced food with colors as varied as the people sitting around it.

I called you earlier yesterday. It's 8 AM on a Sunday in Israel right now, so I think I"ll let it be.

Miss you.

Idit,

SoCal (and for that matter, NorCal, and probably NYC) are havens for religious and racial tolerance, but remember those landlocked states in between.

I was in Mississippi, a small town, for a friend's bridal shower last year.
"Look at all these protestant churches listed in their hotel directory." I pointed out.
"It is the bible belt," my friend explained.
My point wasn't that there were so many churches, but there really was nothing else. no mosque, temple, eastern orthodox or even roman catholic.

So Cal is unique and wonderful in that sense. people can dis the traffic and sprawl and pollution, but I still miss it.
