Why I'm Otherkin, and why I'm not.

Apr 24, 2005 21:05

It just dawned on me that my first post was really just about my exploits as a furry. I got so wrapped up in that, that I forgot to write out why I've decided to join the ranks of otherkin, even though I don't really "fit in" to an exacting standard ( Read more... )

While I'm a bit too ADHD-moodwise to say much in the way of profound remarks, I wanted to say that I like this. It's the same way I learn from my own totems, and much of the same way I feel. I'm a lion therian, so my soul is a bit more rooted to at least one phenotype of body and isn't as restless as you say yours is, but I still can identify. It's rare to find a shapeshifter like that, yanno?

=^_^= Promise I'll be a little more coherent at later dates. ^^;;

Oh, you're plenty coherent. I like you. And it isn't restless, animal-wise. There's no animal that it is or isn't. The restlessness I'm referring to, is the lack of ease. Shifting is so hard, and even talking to the totems sometimes, is so hard. I didn't even find butterfly without assistance, because I was so used to thinking "animal" and not insect. I knew it was there, but all I could get were... impressions of flying. Is it a bird? I said to myself... to which I'd answer "No. There are no feathers." And so I'd said, "Well... is it a fairy, then?" And again, I'd say "No." I was utterly stumped, until a brush-in with a very talented psychic, who told me, without any provocation, "You shapeshift in dreamtime." So I asked her, just for some verification, what she saw me shifting into. So she says, "a rabbit and a butterfly". And I was like, X_X! OH! A BUTTERFLY! ... Lesson of that day: be mentally open to all manner of things ( ... )

... Hee. Well, I admit that I hunted the picture of the raven down on google images. But the photoshopping, the purple, the highlights of color, are my doing. Always been an important color to me. I like the glowing sphere effect, too, because I always thinking about the story where raven steals the light from the child, and puts it in the sky. (Sun! n_n)

Anyway. Okay! I understand now. Yeah. Was quite comfortable as a coyote, but the realization that I have... little fresh use for the mentality or physicality was disappointing. So I get you.

Hmm I don't think I know that story. Sounds like a good one!

I've always felt drawn to certain animals, some more so than others at different times, but I believe in the sense of guides and totems. But I do enjoy hearing about your experiences. :-)
