1. I'm planning a re-read at least her book, because I feel like now that Mae is the only cast member, it would be easy to slip. And I don't want to slip.
2. I'd love some advice from players in the same situation? Characters from books - where does canon end and your own interpretation begins, when there's no new episode/chapter to reaffirm something every week?
3. Anything else you can figure out is worth mentioning, plus cookies if anyone has read the books.

3. I haven't read the books yet, but I did DL them, does that mean I get cookies? o-or crumbs? ._.v Also, unrelated to her canon, but I enjoy Mae very much and would love to see her around a little more?

2. Well, I have Tessa who's pretty much in the same situation as Mae, and I think I'll also need to do a canon review to remind me of her voice, but what is interesting is, I think, that of course the characters develop in their time during the City, and learn new things, change, adapt... so long as it's in line with their character and can be supported by their experiences in the City, I think it makes sense to see them change? but it's important that one continues to get their voice right... yeah, okay, that probably didn't help you a lot, did it? xD

1. Canon reviews are always good ♥

1. Yes they are!

2. This makes a lot of sense, and it iiiis what I've been doing. It helps a lot more than you'd think, actually! It only takes someone else to confirm that they operate based on the same actions as you to do set you somewhat at ease, you know? I think it's what I needed - proverbial pat on the back or something. Thank you!

3. You get cookie batter if you want, which is better, and you only get it because Amelia Ponddddd - I will try to fix that and move Mae around more now! She's my only character at the time being, and hopefully by the time I get the canon re-read done, I'll feel so much better about throwing her EVERYWHERE. And Amy Pond will be on that list. Redheads, please!

I really enjoy your Mae. I don't know her canon but she's a fun character and I'm glad you are sticking around with her even though she's now a lone canon warrior.

I do think canon review helps. I also think you have to be aware of her development because she is going to develop in the City outside of the book just by nature of everything that happens to her here but I think if you're aware of what's going on and are aware of who she is in canon, you can fairly successfully develop her ICly beyond what canon does.

Thank you! Lost cases or something - those are my prerogatives. So I'm glad people enjoy her, otherwise it would be pointless to keep her. Except the part where she's a lot of fun.

I'll take that advice to heart. Thanks for it!

2) I find that as far as interpretation, it's pretty much like any other character. Take the facts you know, and see what you can infer from the rest. The only difference is that books sometimes have the advantage in that they tend to have lots of narration and inner feelings, if not from the character themselves, then from the friends (or enemies, w/e, I won't judge 8|) around them. Use the narration to its fullest. As far as not constant updates, I dunno. It's tough, because there's stuff that the author may leave off, or briefly mention once, and you don't know if it's important or a throw-away thing, and it comes in as critical to know one day, and you've just got to make a decision, but what if you choose wrong?

Try seeing the character from other perspectives, that might help with knowing if you're doing her right. If other players/characters are reacting to her similarly enough to how canon characters tend to, then chances are that you're doing pretty well.

Things the author may leave out: birthdays, actual ages, favourite colour, etc. etc. XD But yes. I agree, what if I choose wrong is a big question, one I tend to make as often as I post with her. It's been getting better, though! And hopefully it will reach a point where a canon review will work to my advantage. From thereon, it's like everyone's said, I suppose - the character will grow and do different things in the City. It just happens.

Thanks for the advice!!

Uh, god, I know, right? Other things include the meaning to significant lines mentioned in canon, feelings towards the people they see all the time, reason for being where they are in life, real name but okay that's another story and I'll be forever bitter about these, Terry Pratchett's actually pretty good about stuff, though. But yeah, birthdays and stuff. Anywho.

Canon review is always good, over-analyze everything, that's the key. I just now thought of the view from other perspectives thing, so I'll be utilizing that too. This thread is superhelpful for a lot of people, so good luck with Mae, too!
