As mentioned in
this post, there's going to be a tournament for Lucy Pevensie's birthday. The tournament will be held on May 1 on a wide field where the woods meet the more 'suburban' part of the City. There will be another IC post made sometime Saturday or Sunday with this information for your characters.
So onto the sticky parts of the tourney. Sometimes picking who wins, loses, or
who fights who can be a troublesome thing. We prefer to keep this event as informal as possible, there are no systems to determine who is First Place, Ultimate Champion, Numbah One, etc. in any of the fields. Anyone who wins a match is a winner. Yes we know that sort of seems strange but like the tournament is in the spirit of games and not
hostility, we rather not enforce a type of system on other players to determine winners. The options we do think available are:
♦ one-on-one single matches between players who are willing to discuss winning or losing
♦ one-on-one single matches with an NPC if you feel uncomfortable deciding matches with another player
♦ random.org's
coin flipper or
die roller Ranged combat (archery) is the only area that doesn't necessarily encounter matching. Everyone who makes their target is a winner. Targets will of course vary from traditional bullseye to activities like
shooting things off stuff.
Because the Narnians are kind of medieval compared to everyone else these competitions will not be including feats of amazing technology like what you might find at say a modern day shooting range. The most modern weapon allowed are pistols as requested by Cain Hargreaves. This will be closely monitored and allowed with strict safety measures! Those not participating in Cain's matches are just as free to gloss over it. In other words, no trying to tilt by car or motorcycle, no laser swords or electrical whips, no heat seeking arrows. Superpowered individuals are expected to not use their powers at all during these competitions. This shouldn't come as a surprise right?
Okay the part that's supposed to be the most important besides glory and bragging rights and ego stroking and impressing the ladies and gents...
Prizes
Lucy Pevensie
lionesscouchant and her hardworking team will be crafting flower garlands for winners. These can be worn on the head or tied around the arm.
Blair Waldorf
miss-waldorf will be minting medals bearing the lion rampant for winners. These can be worn around the neck and if the sun hits it just right, bliiiiing.
Sheryl Nome
hopedanddreamed will be offering dates/stage time to the top winners in each field. How can there be a top winner when we just said there will be no system to determine Numbah One, you ask? Well Sheryl's participation is a separate section of competition. Characters may knowingly compete for the Sheryl Prize in any of the fields or they may compete unaware that somehow their name got listed as part of the Sheryl Prize. Play this however you'd like! Please contact Sheryl's player to work out match details and wins or losses for this prize.
The tournament will open late morning and run until early evening. The party isn't over when the tourney is though, after the closing of the tournament there will be food and music and dance in the same field just for
the fun of it and lulz. This is open to participants, spectators, even characters who have no idea what's going on and decided to wander by, gifts for Lucy's birthday not required upon entry! There will be a log for the competition and a second log for the party opened the day of, which is May 1, for those who wish to play out matches or partying.
Hopefully that's everything! Feel free to list your participating characters and/or work out match results down in comments if you do wish to engage in one-on-one fights with another player. Also ask questions or just spam... and stuff! This post will be linked in the next IC post made about the tournament as well.
