so about Star Trek. There are a number of things, but you know what? The big thing is what is with the dresses/short skirts? They are so very impractical. Why? Also, I would be less annoyed if some of the women wore pants, like it was a choice. Also if some of the men wore the dress. I'd like to think that in the future men also have knees

I think somebody involved with the TNG pilot agreed with this. If I'm remembering right, at least one guy strides along the corridor in a miniskirt uniform. After that they pretty much disappear.

Any argument that says that it's reasonable for female officers to wear skirts can't disagree with male officers doing it! I am glad someone in the franchise thought that one through. :)
