You have such beautiful descriptions here. And insights. I love this: With how present she is, even in sleep. And this too: Like some wicked, unruly part of her that won't let him forget that he wants to touch her. That sounds like Kate, tormenting him even in her sleep.

This whole thing feels right. Castle reassuring himself that she's there because he still doesn't entirely believe it and Kate just so content and peaceful and there because she's finally where she's meant to be.

Can I also just say - I love that you're dealing with the reality that she got the crap kicked out of her and what that does to Castle. Lots of great perspectives on that night in this piece.

I know for pacing purposes, Beckett has to be up and in fighting form by the next morning, but to me it's an interesting reversal of Knockout, where she's mortally wounded and taken from him so that he's left with the image of her dying in front of him; here, we have her coming back to him from the brink, but the farthest thing from unscathed. I wanted to play with that, so glad you thought it was interesting, too!
