The thermostat wars

Jan 21, 2015 22:54

I should be in bed, and I'm going, really. In a few minutes. It's 10:30 PM here and I've got to get up at 5 so I'll have time for coffee and peace before the grandson gets here at 6-ish BUT! I am waiting for the house to cool down just a bit more or I won't be able to sleep anyway ( Read more... )

Oh, wonderful! Well, annoying as anything, but I do love the thought of it all going on completely wordlessly. :D

Is the poor chap feeling the cold more? Do you need to wrap him up in something snuggy? With the added bonus it might slow down his lunge for the thermostat.

He does feel the cold more the older he gets, yes. And I feel it less (especially since menopause). We've almost completely reversed ourselves from how we were when we met; of course, we were 20 years younger then, too.

It's really quite a mystery as to how he gets to that thermostat without me seeing him. He really doesn't move that fast anymore, bless him. But I'll keep the blanket-hobbling tip in mind! lol

I so agree with Snail -- it sounds highly annoying, but I too love the thought of it all going on so wordlessly. Not to mention him biding his time until you leave the room, then racing to the controls, then racing back to his seat on the couch or whatever, all innocence and "I haven't moved an inch" when you come back. Your own personal sitcom scenario. :-)

(I don't get his reason for running the fan all the time any more than you do. In summer, maybe, but you'd think it would just sort of cool things off faster in winter when the air it's moving isn't heated. *bafflement*)

It's so strange, because neither one of us has ever been the type to carry on silently about anything. I find it quite amusing, actually.

He's a big proponent of continuously running the fan in the summer, too. We've had that argument. *rolls eyes* I'm sure if I ever break down and confront him about blowing the fan in winter, he'll come up with some "baffle 'em with bullshit" argument in favor of it. Which would not keep me from turning it off every chance I get. lol

I know, it's crazy, right?

Even back before menopause, when I was still the cold person in the household, I always wanted the house cool at night. I can't sleep when it's hot.
