Over at the New York Times, Mark Bittman has a thought-provoking article on [cleaning out your pantry and restocking with better ingredients] for the new year. 'Better' doesn't mean 'more expensive' - in many instances, Bittman's suggestions are downright cheap, and certainly speak to creating a kitchen with as few preservatives and "food stuffs" in it as possible.
