Anyone reading this would think you'd had a bad year! I thought you'd had quite a good year.
*snrk* Pasty tax! I'd forgotten about that.
I believe there's a good site for learning languages which is starting a German podcast sometime this month so that might be worth while looking into. There's info here: http://radiolingua.com/2012/09/announcing-coffee-break-german/ If you look under the Languages section, they have two German programmes already which might be useful.
I hope you do keep us updated of all and any progress! And by 'us', I mean 'me' :D
It was mostly good, but because it's been terrible for the tail end (and this is still a bit bad) that's sort of what's coloured it. I also couldn't really be bothered at 3am to go back and fill it out with more...
Awesome will check that out, I also have loads of pdf ebooks on my ipad (inc. German for Dummies lol) and have downloaded the entire Michel Thomas method and the Pimsleur as mp3s which I should listen to. Then the other night I saw something (Dara O'Briain's Science club) that said musical things help us learn better, we're more likely to remember a song lyric than a line of text. Something to do with the sing-songy way parents teach their kids to speak in the first place. And you get these things called Earworms that is like a musical language mp3. I'm open for trying all sorts as school lessons are never really helpful, all vocab and no grammar really.
The job I have the interview for is a bit WW2 related and German was desirable on the spec, so I may get some work sponsored classes if I get the job.
Ah yes, the later stuff will certainly colour your outlook even for the earlier part. I don't blame you for not wanting to go back and fill it out. It really is such a lengthy thing but it does cover everything! I keep meaning to fill bits out month by month rather than leaving it all to the last minute but I always forget.
I've heard that musical stuff helps you remember better. Apparently also concentrating on speaking a language first without worrying about the written side of it helps as well because again, that's also how you learn to speak in the first place. You don't learn to read while learning to speak!
Oo, work sponsored classes would be good. Fingers crossed!
