Theirs were the first editorial cartoons I read online regularly, starting in 2003 just after The War began (when, to be fair, I agreed with them on a bit more than I do at this point). They've always been witty and skillful; I can definitely understand the bit about the sewer of day-to-day politics, though, and how utterly depressing it can get.
Mike Shelton, who was the Orange County Register's resident conservative crackpot cartoonist, also quit drawing recently. He went into animation of some sort. And I don't know if Jack Higgins from the Chicago Sun-Times (also a conservative crackpot) quit drawing or not, but he is no longer available through Universal Press Syndicate.
I'd rather see the douchebag who does Mallard Filmore call it quits. C&F, while Republican douchebags, never seemed to me to be religious douchebags as well, to their credit. Also, at least they used to make me laugh, occasionally. Mallard Filmore makes me pray for nuclear holocaust.
Considering how much Mallard's creator likes to mix booze and operating motor vehicles, it probably won't be too long before he gets a nice long vacation courtsey of the state.
Ditto on the sediments BTW. CandF may be delsouional but they at least made attempts to be clever. Filmore is a waste of space.
I've seen a couple of C&F's that are actually funny (but not too many). The main problem with the politicartoons forum is that almost all the liberal/left's worse predictions about the war, climate change, civil liberties etc have all come true (for a given value of 'true'). The debate's become one-sided because, alas, this administration appears to have had such a catalogue of failure that even folk hell-bent on defending it (with one or two honourable exceptions) can find little in the way of argument to back up their case. And let's be candid, even I don't like kicking a man when he's down more than is absolutely required. So 14 months more with the hobnails on and everything will be back to 'normal' and folk can start taking the piss out of Hillary on a full-time basis.

P.S. I am waiting for one of Latuff's rabid Hate America cartoons to appear again. I want to rant about him so badly.
