I love the spirit, but ... this literally may be the end of the world. ;)

Krugman offers something similar in vein:

Eventually those of us on the center-left will have to talk about political strategy. For now, however, I want to share some thoughts on how we should deal with this personally ( ... )

Oh, I know it. But, perspective: the specters of nuclear war and climate change have been with us for a very long time. And the rise of white supremacists and all forms of oppression. To many of us (not all, though), this looks worse than anything we've seen before. And it is.

And I am depressed, and afraid, and so very disappointed in what this country has become. But I'm also angry. And fightin' mad.

And let's not forget about the things we can do -- however small they may seem now -- or what we still have.

Thank you for the quote. One of the points he touches on: we don't need to let go of taking care of ourselves or those close to us. In fact, I think it's important that we don't.

Also, It Is Possible for Trump to be a Good President.

I started reading this, and didn't get very far yet. I plan on finishing, but from what I have read so far, my initial impression is that Richard W. Painter either doesn't realize or has forgotten that the person he's talking about is a malignant narcissist and a dangerous sociopath. For those reasons alone, I very much doubt he can be a good or even passably mediocre president. But I guess we'll see, won't we?

While I don't disagree with your assessment of Trump, I think at this point we have to move beyond the simple assessment, drop our reductive criticisms of him, and figure out a gameplan for the next several years, to rebuild the Democratic base.

Going over the exit polls, what really struck me was that the pre-election polling wasn't wrong about how most Americans thought about Trump. Majorities thought he was less qualified than Clinton and had a worse temperament than Clinton. A significant number of people voted for him only with reservations. But we elected him anyway. Why ( ... )

Democrats need to drop the identity politics and pick up class politics. Let the Republicans scream "class warfare" all they want; the 1% have been waging class warfare since the 80s and they've been winning.
