Well, you have to admit, it would be much more interesting, even as Rome burns. I'm sort of tired of "Game of Thrones".

When I was a child I got to visit Rome with my family; we got a tour of the Coliseum and the tour guide told us the story about some Roman Emperor, cant recall who, but here's the story.

This emperor saw that the crowd loved and adored the victorious gladiators; he wanted that love and adoration; so he decided he would get into the ring and fight. But he didn't want to risk actually getting hurt ina fight, or worse, losing, so, he would fight opponents who had their hands tied behind their backs; or no weapons, or other weak and destined-to-lose opponents.

But the problem with this is that the audience got bored and didn't enjoy it. It's no fun watching a fight like that. So, one day, the audience BOOOOed the emperor as he was slaughtering someone who couldn't fight back. So what does this emperor do?

He jumps into the audience AND STARTS MURDERING THEM.

The other side of the audience starts cheering, as THAT is a show!

Lesson: Don't be that audience. Cheering on as your own are ripped to shreds. Not cool. Not cool.

Sounds like Commodus, but I don't recall anything about him ever killing audience members.

Commodus was the major character in a 1964 movie called The Fall of the Roman Empire. Lots of stars from the period including Christopher Plummer as Commodus and Sophia Loren. You can see the trailer on Youtube.

Makes sense. The media has been Red Queening the entire debacle, running their mouths faster just to keep up with the crap.

There's a "human centipede" gag in there somewhere, I think...

A gag would stop the process, I think.
