Heh, I missed that California has turned itself around so well. No Tea Party, no Nuts, Racists, and Assholes - it is dizzying to think what might get accomplished. Imagine there's no heaven!

Actually all those demographics are present but aren't as easily gerrymandered into relevance the same way they can in say Texas. Orange County is full of libertarian nutcakes, and the high desert has the NRA crowd.

I'd happily accept their irrelevance, and we could always use something to laugh at. They are sort of our version of the Islamists - a poisonous radical sect acting like a cancer on the larger society.

"Are Militant Atheists Using Chemtrails To Poison Angels?"

That was posted on Facebook. It's hard to know these days how serious the crazies are about such things. Until they get elected to Congress and then it becomes a problem for the rest of us.

I love seeing the real life manifestation of Sandra Day O'Connor's arguments from Gonzales v Raich.

Gonzales v. Raich was primarily about the Federal government asserting that Article 1, Section 8's language regarding interstate commerce gave it jurisdiction over the states with regards to the use of drugs. So, even though California had passed a law allowing for the use of medical marijuana (and allowing people to grow enough for personal use,) the Feds argued that because an interstate market existed (albeit an illicit market,) their more restrictive Federal laws held sway, and they raided the home of a woman who was growing marijuana for medical use ( ... )

And sadly, States like Colorado and Washington have leapt ahead by creating a strong regulatory framework for marijuana, while California dances around doing nothing and allowing massive tax revenue to just vanish.

That ruling on interstate commerce is ridiculous but the courts tend to roll over for the fed.

I've tried the vanilla flavored almond milk (had a guest can't drink dairy milk), and it's pretty good. It's supposed to keep a long time too, since it's ultra pasteurized.

Almond milk is soooooooooooo good. Although I enjoy the soy, coconut, flax, etc. versions, almond is the absolute best.

I have had the exact opposite experience with milks. When I used to buy dairy milk, it used to go bad before I could finish it. Every time. All the non-dairy milks I've tried have kept as long as I have needed them without fail.

You're right, calling BS on the Liberal back slapping is just bitterness.

The billions in unfunded pensions and liabilities don't exist. It's just mean Republicans trying to ruin your party.
