Social Security is clearly socialist program, ans so is Medicare, and some Obama's initiatives are socialist by nature. You guys seem to think that "socialism" is obscenity or insult, while it's just a political term with a certain meaning, and because of that you are trying to deny obvious things.

godwins law covers both hitler and the nazis. natinal soclisim wasnt very soclisist, in the end, hitler driving out the libral members of the party in favour going further and further the right. the soclisit in the tital was for show, pritty much, in the end. third, this may or may not be true, but this is the first time i saw it drawn in. fourth: i would say im not, but in case i am. no.

If by "not very socialist" you mean "not socialist at all" then you're right.

Guys, can we just remember that the whole reason the Nazi's have "socialist" in their name is an attempt to co-opt those members of the public who were leaning towards socialism. At the time they were doing this, they were also actively smashing any vestiges of grass roots socialism in the country.

Also, many of you may like to remember that what has been shown to be the most stable, most vibrant and most successful in the highest quality of life for the most number of people is mixed economies. Capitalism rules in many ways, but it needs to be tempered with socialism; and vice versa. Saying that either idea is out of the argument is just being ideological, and taking such a stance, in my mind, makes your argument invalid.

Slippery slope is a fallacy, not an argument.

You are saying that as if it is scientifically proven. It's not. In some cases such an approach might be a fallacy, in other cases it's true, and there is nothing you can do about that.
