I'm kind of struggling to see your point here, is it that all politicians are morons who don't think before they act/speak?

Actually, I wasn't referring to politicians at all by referencing that. It was more that people as a whole tend to "sensationalize" things. (I might be one of the few who believe this, but it's not all the newsmedia's fault.) Everybody loves a scandal. It's more fun to gossip about or "Love to hate".

In my personal experience, though, the real answer is the embarassingly simple and boring one. The "truth is stranger than fiction" idea only seems to apply to people's reactions. (Or tech support...)
