Yeah... this happens to "regular" people every day. They often pay serious consequences, all for having been breathalyzed within a half hour of their one and only glass of wine.

I don't buy blood alcohol restrictions, particularly when they are as low as 0.08. And the reason isn't because I agree with drunken driving. I don't. But I really feel like it's become something of a witchhunt. You defraud your investors for millions of dollars? A year in Club Fed, a book deal, and a network talk show. Clock 0.08 BAC? AntiChrist. I think we've gone overboard a little regarding inforcing DUI.

Oh, Paris Hilton did this? I recant. Get the stake, I'll light the fire.

I'm a little bit torn on this. I despise Paris Hilton and the crass consumerism for which she stands, but on the other hand, there are several people in the work release where I work who are in there solely because of a DUI. Take their license away, fine them, but I DON'T think jail time is necessary, especially because most of these women have an honest-to-god addiction. Maybe court-mandated Alcoholics Anonymous attendance would be a better option; whatever the case, I do not think these women belong in jail. Most of them carry a ridiculous amount of guilt that is worse than any prison ( ... )
