What happened on Myrkr? anonymous August 9 2007, 21:14:21 UTC
I'm afraid I haven't really read any of the post movie books that came out after 1998 or so. So, what happened? was it NJO or Legacy?

Actually, it's sort of the result of two things added to the fact that the planet is home to a species that survives by warping the Force. The events, though, are pre-NJO and NJO-era. It's the ysalamiri stolen from Myrkr that allow Thrawn to grow his army of clone soldiers in such a short period of time that he can mount such a serious campaign against the New Republic that they don't have nearly enough time to try to prepare, and so the New Republic nearly falls to him. And then, in the NJO, the mission to Myrkr is the one where the entire NJO series gets turned on its head pretty much literally halfway through the nineteen-book series because George decided he was afraid that fans would get Anakin Solo confused in their heads with Anakin Skywalker and he wanted all the focus to be on his Anakin (prequel-era Anakin Skywalker) and so he made the writers switch out the Solo boys in terms of the whole plot. Thanks for refreshing the memory about Myrkr. Haven't read anything past NJO except the Traviss books and Outbound Flight. Reading right along, liked the more relaxed Mace and the explanation about Depa and hopes for her possible awakening.

Not a problem, hon! I hope the explanation made sense. (I have a hard time with tenses for some of these things because they happened in the past in the current EU if you're reading stuff, but it's things that would've happened in the future from a canon-perspective and now won't happen at all - or at least not the way they do in canon and EU - in the AU's timeline.)

Eh, I read pretty much everything in the EU except for the NJO series and the two book series and one comic series written after the NJO, right up until the point I got about halfway through the Thwarting the Revenge of the Sith trio (yes, it's a trio with a name and everything now! *Lol!* I've crossposted the bejesus out of the series lately, but thought I should mention it here, because the version of what I always labelled as the monster WIP on my LJ isn't the finished version. The version up on ff.net - there are links in all those crossposts I mentioned on the various SW LJcommunties - has several thousand more words, easily, most of it in the second and third books ( ... )
