Given that promos are notoriously deceiving (splicing up moments that don't belong together, etc.), I am not putting much stock into that. Having said that, it's Allan Ball's "Bill and Sookie are soul-mater and I am rooting for them to end up together" comment at Comic Con that has me seeing red. (Me and probably 90% of the fans, give or take). Fine, he is being coy here, I suspect, because even he (with all his obvious biases) will not just give away the ending (if he even knows at this point what the ending might be, since no one knows how long the show will last and what it may evolve into). What would be the point? But why say things like that at all? Why declare allegiances, knowing full well you are pissing off a sizable portion of your audience? Blergh

I have my issues with the books, but the book Sookie was no idiot.Yes. This is becoming a big issue this season. I know they condensed a lot but there was no need to make her brash and loud in order to speed things up. Her behaviour in Lou Pines to get information? Taunting the weres that sex with big bad vampires is awesome to get one of them alone? Alcide was always going to have the shit kicked out of him when she did that. The equivalent scene in the books painted her in a much better light

Despite the Suckeh/Beeeel thing, I'm enjoying the show. I love the way they've written Eric so far. I know a lot of people were hating how vicious Eric was being to Suckeh in the last ep, but I loved it.
I guess after the whole VM thing, I've realized I almost don't want the couples I ship to get together in canon because the writers will find a way to fuck it up.
I actually really like how they've written Eric/Sookie so far. And if Alan Ball thinks Beel/Suckeh are soulmates, he will find ways to keep them apart which means more possible Eric moments.
He wasn't being vicious though. He said shut up repeatedly and she was the one using the F bomb, mocking him and antagonising until he snapped and screamed in her face. It went both ways to me. I would say the indifference to her human feelings was more hurtful than the viciousness. Calling her 'it' repetitively. Her head was crowded with noise, but dude, she should know Eric doesn't think of her as an 'it'. She came across as really slow in this episode. Maybe she was panicking too much to assess the situation.

Whenever you introduce conflict for the sake of conflict, once you've established a great couple, it always comes across as contrived and then it's all downhill

Yeah, me too. I do think some of the political stuff is great. We never got much of that in the books because it was always watered down when Sookie was around. If I focus on that stuff, I'm not as annoyed. But then the next episode comes and another favourite Eric/Sookie moment has vanished.
It does suck but I think the Alcide fans are going through the same thing right now. A lot of the Alcide stuff was cut. I know the actor doesn't have the chemistry with Anna he needed to have with her, or the presence, but it's odd they cut so much of his impact on her in this book.
Yes. sigh. Sorry. I start out with good intentions and then it all comes out in an overly verbose, rather boring way.
I've been much happier with how closely they've followed the book so far this season.
In comparison to last season definitely.
Pam trumps Sukkeh nine hundred bazillion to one. Which is as it should be. His child should take precidence over the girl that he "tricked" into sucking his blood.
Sucks that we didn't actually get a scene of the horrible torture Pam is going through in the last episode. We got to feel Bill's pain and Sookie's desperation, it would have been nice to see Pam's pain and put Eric's behaviour in context. I know the audience is aware of what is prompting Eric's behaviour but there's a difference between having it in the back of your mind and seeing the evidence of it.
I'm an Eric-fan, rather than an Eric/Sookie shipper I think. On the show - me too

True that. I'm hanging out for the power politics plot with Eric. He's juggling so many different crisis situations and trying to resolve them all at the same time. This could either be an amazing demonstration of his political prowess or it could all end in disaster.

I see this as a win/win for me :)

He's really annoying me this season, and AB has stated that they are soulmates blah blah blah.
I'm very intrigued to see where Eric goes this season.
