More social justice warriors and pink scifi people moving to change the things that they can't tolerate.

And octavia butler? Why? Because they Octavia is a black woman? To be honest, Octavia wasn't a great writer, no where good enough (and definitely not famous enough) to be the face of an award.

I know. These critics have a great big nasty case of sour grapes, that's all. Lovecraft is the Homer of the Dreamlands and the shadowlands, and none of these little turds can touch him, let alone transcend him, which they all wish to do. And look at China Mieville, carping about Lovecraft's racism, when Mieville is infamous for his own bigotry! Lovecraft is a giant of literature. These critics are little tiny ant-men, stumbling around Lovecraft's feet, wondering what it is that casts such shade on them and whether those two pillars are trees or what. They'll never fill his shoes, for they want a precious, neatly sorted-out world that does just what they want, and they write the same way. Lovecraft dared to explore the scariest parts of the human mind and soul, and came back to tell us what he discovered. Only those who have been as great as he was should dare to criticize him.

Who will remember Nnedi Okorafor three-quarters of a century after her death? She is a pygmy, carping at a giant.

Indeed she is. Then there's Mieville China, dissing Lovecraft for his racism -- China is one of the biggest bigots going, especially against Jews, so where the hell does he come off. I think mostly what these would-be critics of a great man and great writer have going is a good, nasty case of sour grapes.

They're going to be as successful taking down Lovecraft as they were Shakespeare. Both are too deeply embedded in the culture to be removed, especially by this bunch of lightweights and posers.

Yep. They are LOUD, but ultimtely ineffective. I also noticed that they dissed Poe in the article. It sounds more like sour grapes than acurate analydid of the work of any of the three men. And what is China Mieville doing there, anyway? He's a class-A bigot himself! They sound like a bunch of high-school juniors still trying to impress the Big Kids and not succeeding worth a damn.

And I'll bet by now they've received a flood of criticism of their position and are too busy trying to keep their heads above floodwater to worry about continuing to pursue their criticism of Lovecraft. :-)
