I'm good with animals. The lion will know I am just wanting to pet it.

Yes. And now I have an appointment with the Veterinarian to graft wings onto my unicorN. [For some reason LiveJournal keeps changing "n" to "h" when writing "unicorn." But it won't do that to a capital N.]

When I was in paralegal school, we learned about a concept called "strict liability." Basically, some items are so dangerous that, no matter the circumstances of someone getting hurt, the owner of the dangerous item is automatically liable.

When owned, wild animals--lions in particular mentioned--fall under strict liability.

I'm not saying it's a good bit of law--but it's quite possible that the only *legal* thing to do is to find against the zoo.

Thanks. That's bad law -- it needs refining to keep incidents like this from damaging those who did everything possible to protect the public, when the public was harmed thanks to its own stupidity. There should have been a sign on that woman saying "WARNING: EXTREME STUPIDITY. DO NOT ALLOW AROUND ANYTHING POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS."
