A lot of adults do this sort of thing to children. Why not? Children have zero credibility anyway, and adults can get away with anything they do to a child. Or so many people think. They're the same people who angrily decry protecting children from truly abusive caretakers as "interference with parental rights." I was lucky. With me, the abuse was always psychological. None of them ever laid a hand on me. They just did all they could to destroy my soul. I wonder where they are now.
