I've been following this story. Many are showing inspiring acts of heroism.

My worry is that if this gets violent, the Obama administration will use it as an excuse to declare martial law over the entire country, changing from a de facto despotism to a de jure one. The former is restrained, at least to some extent, by public opinion and protests. The latter . . . won't be.

I agree that it appears that Harry Reid is trying to manipulate the BLM for his own interests. What worries me is the infowars crowd. Cliven Bundy's people are all for peaceful protests, but the armed militia people that gathered from out-of-state are dangerous! They were using women as shields and seemed to want a violent confrontation. The Bundy people exclaimed that "they are going to wreck it all ( ... )

You're right. Unfortunately, too many people are in a mood to "Do Things" about the shenanigans the feds are pulling, and violence may be likely. Yes, that could hand Obama all he needs to declare martial law and make his administration a despotism de jure as well as, as it is now, de facto. The thing is, the federal government possesses tanks, bomber jets, fighter jets, attack helicopters, a standing army, the now heavily armed Depsrtment of Homeland Security, and weapons of mass destruction -- including nukes. I wouldn't put it past Obama to order a nuke or two used on American cities to "set an example" and try to terrorize the country into submission. And the rest of the feds' arsenal would outman, outgun, and overwhelm citizens who sared fight back. I think we're screwed, no matter what we do, short of a supervolcano eruption or something else that brings the world to a standstill and renders centralized governments in great nations null and void.
