I associated the songs in the videos embedded below with the 1940s and early 1950s, when the relief at the end of World War II hadn't yet faded completely away, and the terror of the Cold War hadn't yet sunk its fangs all the way into our hearts. These are songs from a more civilized time, a time when real personal freedom seemed within reach of

Thank you for Maria. Such a glorious song! I love Harve Presnell's voice. He was also Johnny Brown in The Unsinkable Molly Brown - one of the favorite films of my youth. I was sorry to read in his Wikipedia entry that he died in 2009. I did not know that until just now...
