Hippies loved it because it was Cheap to buy, Cheap to own, Cheap to operate, and easy to fix. This new one is none of those.

And it doesn't look all that much like the old VW microbus, either. But it does look as if it could be a good family car for those who can afford it. Its top speed is good -- more than enough to get out of a jam in most cases. And it does go quite a distance between charges. Still, I'll be curious to see how it performs in real life, once people begin to buy and drive it every day.
