The middle class is definitely being duped in that the popular definition of the middle class is designed to include most people, and pit them against an unknown minority of "them."

The truth is that teachers aren't paid by "them" by a progressive income tax. They're paid from revenue collected from property taxes, taxes paid by the middle class, including lower-middle and middle-middle.

Public sector union members are definitely upper-middle, with upper-middle trappings like four-year college educations and pensions.
