When we moved to OK in 2005 we looked for a bank that was close to the house. I hate ATM fees so I wanted a bank with branches in the places I frequented. Our Bank is local to Oklahoma. They post all the deposits at midnight THEN post the deductions. I can check my balance online. It tells me where my card was used, for how much, and if it is pending or paid. If I had $10 in my account and used my card for $20 it will show me online the pending overdraft and give me the opertunity to move funds into the account or have it deducted from another account I own. Should I let it slip then yes they charge me $25. I figure as easy as they make it for me to correct the situation BEFORE it is a problem if they end up charging me $25 then I deserve it. The people are friendly and WANT to help you. I can't think of a single irritation with them in 5 years. Having banked with BofA, WellsFargo, WaMu, and some other large banks I can say 1 yr is a record 5 yrs is a LIFE TIME
( ... )
For now, I'm moving my accunts to US Bank. I may eventually move them to BECU, a co-op, or to Alaska Co-op; both co-ops are based on the customer, not absentee owners, and very honest. But for now, US Bank, which has a good rep and all sorts of services -- and a branch just across the street from where I live. :-)
Yeah, but not getting shafted by Chase has its points. For one thing, the bastards haven't paid me so much as a cent on my savings account since they ate my bank, Washington Mutual, and yet I've kept over $500 in there for some time. I really, really, REALLY don't like Chase!
